Is there a picky eater in your house that could use a dose of probiotics? Want to have more fermented foods in your diet, but you aren’t exactly sure where to start? Here are 25 kid-friendly fermented foods that are packed with probiotics.

Fermented Beverages

  1. Kombucha is the darling of the fermentation world, however, it does have caffeine in it.

For caffeine-free and probiotic soda pop, try one of these instead:

  1. Water kefir
  2. Honey sweetened beet kvass
  3. Ginger bug soda

Dairy Ferments

Easy homemade yogurt without a yogurt maker

Kids love dairy products, so why not use that love to get some probiotics into their diet?

  1. Yogurt is the usual go-to for probiotics. Even store-bought yogurt is probiotic!

There are a number of other cultured dairy products that are also probiotic:

  1. Milk kefir
  2. Cultured buttermilk
  3. Homemade sour cream
  4. Homemade cream cheese

Fermented condiments are a great way to get more probiotics into your diet. A few of our favourite recipes are:

  1. Sweet zucchini relish
  2. Salty cucumber relish
  3. Probiotic ketchup
  4. Fermented salsa
  5. Fermented guacamole

Probiotic Treats

Sweet fermented rhubarb with ginger

Everyone loves a probiotic treat. And desserts are particularly perfect for serving kid-friendly fermented and probiotic foods.

Most of these recipes start with yogurt, cultured cream or coconut milk. As a bonus, many of these recipes are also naturally sweet and sugar-free!
